"THE BAD BUNCH" (2020) - Written/Directed by: Jayson Johnson
Director's Statement: "The Bad Bunch" was an intriguing project for me. At the time, I was attending editing classes at BayCat in San Francisco through a training credit from my job at Indigo Films. The assignment was straightforward: edit street interviews about traffic congestion into a cohesive narrative. But as I reviewed the footage, a different story began to take shape in my mind—a wild idea where San Franciscans were eating pigeons, leading to a dramatic decline in the bird population. It was a bold departure from the original concept, but I wanted to see if my creativity could push the footage in a more interesting direction. After we screened our films, I was congratulated for my unique approach and storytelling ability. That moment was a turning point for me; it made me realize that I had the talent to make a career in the film industry. "The Bad Bunch" was more than just a class project—it was the spark that fueled my confidence in my creative potential.
